Amber's Approach

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me and my approach. If my approach resonates with you please don't hesitate to reach out. 

I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space of warmth, curiosity and gentleness so you feel safe to share and reflect. I value a therapeutic style of collaboration, humour and trust and my approach to counselling is grounded within the experiential.
 
I utilise a combination of therapeutic methods to tailor my approach to your individual needs. I draw from experiential modalities including:

  • Gestalt Therapy 

  • ​Internal Family Systems

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Compassion Focussed Therapy

  • Emotion Focussed Therapy ​

The therapy can involve working together to bring compassion to your experiences, and connecting your emotional responses with past and current patterns of relating and coping.

 
I believe that you are the expert in your experiences, and I hope to empower you to identify your inner strengths, inherent wisdom and core sense of self that knows what you need to heal. 

I truly honour the courage it takes to make the first step into therapy and stay with this process. I consider it a great privilege to be alongside you, as you develop a greater understanding of yourself and move towards healing.

Qualifications

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Bachelor of Psychological Science, University of Queensland

  • Postgraduate Diploma of Professional Psychology

  • Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC), ANZAED
